5 Ways To Stay Completely Organized The Day-Of
Creating Your Schedule of Events

After all, fabulous is all in the details!

Managing your creative partners (think your baker, florist, DJ) and schedule of events can get a little hectic, especially if you’re handling it all without the help of a wedding planner. Here are five invaluable tips for making sure your wedding day goes off without a hitch!

1) Begin framing the schedule as soon as you know the time of the ceremony and reception. Then build a schedule as you meet with your creative partners.

  • Officiant: determine the timing of the ceremony from start to finish.
  • Florist: agree on hourly delivery, as well as install and breakdown times.
  • Caterer: set times for the cocktail party, meal service, and cake cutting, including setup and breakdown.
  • Entertainment: determine when the entertainment is to begin, when breaks occur, when the energy is to be the highest and the latest time they’ll be performing.

2) It’s important that someone you trust also knows the schedule of events. If there are any scheduling problems the day-of, creative partners can be directed to him or her and you can enjoy your day, completely stress-free.

3) Give each creative partner all the scheduling information, as well as a go-to contact if you don’t have a planner. The schedule should be given out well in advance so they have the appropriate time to review and raise concerns.

4) If your wedding is intimate and you’re not using many creative partners, the schedule is still so important. If your best friend is the chef making your food, don’t feel bad setting a schedule in the kitchen!

5) As starting your wedding day timeline, you’ll see when certain events are taking too much time and gaps that need to be filled.

What is a Trunk Designer Show

Feb. 6th 2015

What is a Trunk Designer Show

A trunk show is when a specific designer comes to a bridal salon with his/her entire collection as well as preview the new collection that may not yet be in stores.

The bride has the privilege of meeting the person or representative who is behind the creative needle. Some salons giveaway prizes and gift bags.

An easy way to find out about wedding trunk shows is to call your local wedding salon or search on the bridal designer’s websites and the bridal salon websites.  Most designers and salons will have a current calendar of when and where their trunk shows will be held.

Some bridal salons have an incentive: if you buy the gown during the designer’s trunk show, they will give you a “trunk show” sale price.

Here’s a peek preview of one of the recent Trunk Bridal Shows at Love and Lace Bridal and Tailor …

Do you know the meaning of Valentine’s Day?

Feb. 6th 2015

On the 14th of February, the world is flooded by hearts, teddy bears and chocolates – and we all know why. Valentine’s Day is one of the most beloved celebrations of the year and most of us truly look forward to it.

If you don’t know exactly where Valentine’s Day comes from, make sure to read on because we have brought together some of the most important things you should definitely know about the history of this wonderful holiday.

  • The roots of what we nowadays call “Valentine’s Day” are related both to Roman celebrations and to the beginnings of Christianity as well. Lupercalia was a Roman tradition that involved having boys drawing girls’ names from an urn on February 14th, every year. The boy and the girl would spend the following day together, in hope of forming a romantic connection.
  • During Claudius II’s reign in Rome, he forbad Christians from getting married. However, Valentinus believed in the power of love and marriage and continued to officiate the ceremonies between those who wanted to become husband and wife.
  • As a result of his “disobedience”, Valentinus was executed on the 14th of February, 270 A.D. However, it wasn’t until much later, in 496, that Pope Gelasius renamed Lupercalia after Saint Valentine, the martyr who died in the name of love.
  • Although Valentine’s Day (or Saint Valentine’s Day) is celebrated mostly throughout the Catholic and Protestant world, there are many other countries that have similar holidays too. From China to France and from India to South Korea, a lot of countries have various customs they follow around the same date as Valentine’s Day.

If you plan on surprising your love with a really special Valentine’s Day gift this year, a heart-shaped, handmade necklace would be a wonderful choice. Come visit Chic Indulgences and take a look at my other creations. They’ll definitely convince you that everything made under the “Chic Indulgences” name is unique, beautiful and genuinely heart-warming – just like your special someone!
